Minutes of the September 11 Meeting.  The meeting was opened by Post Commander Aaron Coffin at 1920, followed by the salute to the colors and pledge of allegiance.  The Chaplain conducted the opening prayer. The following comrades were present: Bob Coffin, Henry Barber, Joe Christadore, John Weaver, Don Northcutt, Mike Semenec, Dick Meyer, Vince Baldwin, Bill Bartlett, Joe Greenlee, Ken LaPlante, Jacobo Flores, Dee Rushforth, Mac McCarl, Andrew Lawrence, Larry Askins,  Mark Heyungs, Pat McGinty,  Tom Ciarula, Pat Di Tanna, Ray Roan, and Rich Hawk,  The Adjutant was asked to read the minutes of the last meeting.  However, a motion was passed to accept the minutes as written up in the last newsletter.  The roll call of Officer was conducted with all being present or accounted for.

Quartermaster Report (QM).  The QM presented the current financial position of the Post, and gave the resul;ts of the recent District inspection.

Senior Vice Report.  Introduced our newest member—Justin Atkinson—who transferred in from the VFW Post in Italy.  Justin was previously assigned to the 1st of the 503rd Battalion, 173 Airborne in Italy and had performed combat duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom

Junior Vice Commander.  The Junior Vice did a presentation on ISIS evolution in the future, and reported that he was still working on improving the Post’s web page and facebook account. The request for a Post member with experience to take on the challenge was not successful.  It appears we will need to hire a professional to take on webpage and facebook maintenance.  Currently considering using the person that does this for one of the local American Legion  posts.  We need to budget for this item in the future. Jr. Vice went to the Bill Pelfry funeral and noted that many of the attendees were still wearing their Buddy Poppies given out the night before.

Chaplain. Don reported on the Bill Palfey ceremony at Fairfax Memorial Park.  Bill was very active in the Boy Scouts, lead our Post in the Fairfax City July 4th Parade, and dies from Lou Gehrig’s disease.  The Post conducted the Bible presentation.  Don discussed the Post’s participation n the Fairfax Fall Festival Saturday, October 14. and our manning of the beer tent.  He will send out an email where members can sign up for shifts. The Post will man the beer tent from 1030 to 1730 at Old Town Square, North St @ University Drive.  The 3 shifts are 2 hours 30min. Another group takes over at 5.30pm.  We need to fill 30 shift slots, which includes, supervisor, ID checkers, beer servers, and general help.  Post members, Auxiliary, and family members 21+ can volunteer. Virginia ABC regulations will be in effect.  It's easy money and puts us in front of the public and potential new members. Based on the results of previous years we expect to make $1000 for one day's work.  Sept 22, Bettina will join Don Northcutt at the briefing from Fairfax City Parks and Rec. Any of the leadership who wants to attend is invited. More info to come.

Don also reported that Hank Roeder’s youngest daughter had passed away unexpectedly, and that Roy Gresham’s mother had also passed away.

Adjutant’s Report/Building and Grounds.  A fall clean up will be on November 18, 0900-12.  Mission BBQ will be providing the lunch.  We will be starting the sign up for dinner hosts for 2018.

Buddy Poppy.  Bob Coffin reviewed the Buddy Poppy requirements and put out the sign up sheets.

New Business.  N/A

Good of the Order.  Cobo Flores will be hosting a birthday cookout on Sept 16 from 12-2.
